SUPPORT REFUGEE ACTION AT YOUR SCHOOL

Learn about refugee issues, and raise money to help change lives

Will your school stand up for safety, and give refugees the welcome that they deserve?

At Refugee Action, we’ve been supporting people seeking for more than 40 years. We welcome refugees, campaign for their rights, and provide support and advice to people who have had to flee their homes.

By joining us, your school can be a part of giving hope and help to refugees in the UK. Bring refugee issues to your classrooms with our education packs and lesson plans, found in the resources section below. You can also bring our work to life by inviting us in to deliver a Refugee Action talk, either virtually or in-person. Fill in our talk request form to request a visit from a Refugee Action speaker.

Raising money for refugees

By choosing to raise money for us, you are taking a stand with refugees. Every penny your school raises will go towards our work,  whether it’s funding wellbeing sessions in Bradford, providing face-to-face advice in Manchester or helping a refugee family find a home in Birmingham. By giving us your support, you and your pupils will be giving help and hope to people searching for safety across the country.

Check out our fundraising guide for tips on how to get started, and here are some of our tried and tested fundraising ideas.

Dress down day. Host a non-uniform day and ask each pupil to donate to take part.

Get selling! Organise a bake sale, make and sell crafts, or sell the old books you no longer need in your library.

Race for refugees. Organise a sponsored walk, run or school sports day to reflect the long journeys people must make to find safety.

Charity of the year. Nominate Refugee Action as your charity of the year and raise funds through fun events all year long!

Our team are here to support your fundraising, and have lots of resources to help you get started such as stickers, bookmarks, bunting, leaflets, posters, and t-shirts and tote bags for smaller groups.

Request a talk from a Refugee Action speaker

Our school talks can be for assemblies or classes, and can be tailored to your needs. The talk may be delivered virtually over Zoom or Teams, over in-person depending on your location. Please bear this in mind when making your request.

You can request a Refugee Action talk using our talk request form, and we will do our best to match you with a volunteer speaker. We will be in touch within 3 days of your request.
