Recipes by refugees straight to your door. Home Made brings a whole new story to your dinner table, bringing different smells, tastes, and cultures to kitchens across the country.
WHAT IS HOME MADE?
We all seek comfort in food. For refugees and people seeking asylum, the food that they cook is one of their true connections to home.
Home Made is Refugee Action’s new recipe subscription. You’ll be able to share in the joy of cooking recipes inspired by individuals we support and their stories.

No prior cooking experience needed, each recipe will have clear and easy to follow steps. We want Home Made to be for all, and each month you’ll graduate to another cooking level, from Pot Washer all the way up to being appointed a Home Made Restaurant Owner.
WHAT YOU’LL RECEIVE
*Experts by Experience are people who have lived through the asylum system.

FAQs
What is Home Made?
Home Made is a new way to give regularly to Refugee Action, where you’ll receive monthly recipes for the first 12 months. We want to celebrate the cuisines and cultures of the people we support.
People seeking safety arrive in the UK to rebuild their lives, food is often their one connection back to their home countries.
You’ll sign up to a £10 rolling monthly donation and for the first 12 months you’ll receive a Home Made pack in the post containing a recipe from one of our experts by experience. They’ll be sharing a personal recipe of theirs, along with more of their story and what the recipe means to them. You’ll also receive access to exclusive digital content, and a mindfulness activity to take part in.
After the initial 12 months, your recipe packs will stop as you’ll graduate as Home Made Restaurant owner but your monthly giving will continue rolling so we can continue reaching people seeking safety.
By signing up to a Home Made monthly donation you’ll be supporting Refugee Action’s work and ensuring that people seeking safety here in the UK have access to vital services, protection and support.
You can cancel your rolling donation at any time by contacting our supporter care team on [email protected]
I already support Refugee Action with a regular gift, can I receive the Home made packs?
To receive Home made you will need to sign up to a Home made specific regular gift via this page
What is in each pack?
We don’t want to ruin the surprise for you, but you’ll receive a pack containing a recipe card, story card and a food related mindfulness activity. There will be exclusive digital content each month, and even some additional surprises.
Please note Home made is a recipe pack and not a food subscription. There are no ingredients included in our packs.
When will I receive my first Home made pack?
The monthly recipe packs are fulfilled and sent out to members via a third party fulfilment agency that Refugee Action works with. Due to Direct Debit processing times it can take up to two weeks for your gift to be set up. We then aim to send first packs within a month of your first donation being taken, you will then receive packs on a monthly basis from then on.
What if I’m not home to receive my pack?
Our Home made packs have been designed to ensure it will fit through a standard letter box.
How long will my subscription last?
Home Made is rolling way to give to Refugee Action. For the first 12-months you will be put on our Home Made cooking journey where, you will receive 12 recipe packs over the course of the first year. After this, your recipe packs will stop but your gift will continue each month, and you’ll still have lifetime access to any ongoing and new digital content. Your monthly donations will provide a lifeline to people seeking safety in the UK.
You can cancel your monthly donation at any time, this will then stop any future packs being sent to you.
Can I order if I live outside of the UK?
Unfortunately, we currently only offer delivery in the UK
My box hasn’t shown up yet, what do I do?
If you are still waiting for your box, please get in touch with our team at [email protected] with ‘Home made’ in the subject and we will investigate
Is Made Made suitable for those with meat and animail free diets?
Home Made is the first subscription type of giving we have launched.
Because of this, and limited capacity in our team we made the decision to launch with one general version of Home Made.
This allowed us to focus on curating recipes and creating a high quality journey for you to be part of.
We understand that some of our supporters interested in signing up may follow vegetarian or vegan diets.
We want to be inclusive whilst still being true to sharing the authentic recipes that our contributors have chosen to share as they are attached to personal connections and memories.
At this time, we aren’t able to offer specific vegan, or vegetarian 12 month journeys, however we have taken steps to ensure every recipe we provide will include ways the contributor has suggested they would make it as a meat free dish.
Can I up to Home Made as a gift for someone else?
It’s wonderful you want to share Home Made with a loved one but due to limited capacity in our team, we made the decision to launch without the ability of a gifting option.
Home Made operates through a Direct Debit donation, and our systems currently do not allow us to accept a donation of this kind in one name/address, and then distribute to different details. We understand that this may be disappointing for our supporters who would like to sign up for Home Made on behalf of a loved one, however we hope you can understand our reasoning for this.
As we begin to see Home Made develop we hope to then look into the expansion of our offering and hope to be able to offer a gifting option in the future.
