We campaign to end hostile policies and build an asylum system rooted in justice and humanity. Together with people seeking safety, we’re demanding change and will continue to campaign until everyone seeking safety is treated with dignity.
Campaign

Lift the ban
People seeking asylum in the UK are banned from working while they wait for a decision on their claim. To protect people from poverty, to respect their ambitions and to strengthen the UK’s economy: we need to lift the ban.

Asylum: a front line for racial justice
Racism plays a powerful role in shaping the asylum system and the rights afforded, and denied, to people who ask the UK for protection. The role of racial discrimination in the treatment of refugees has a long past. Help us fight for a future free from it.

Asylum accommodation: our Most Wanted
Did you know the UK asylum system is run for profit? Private companies make millions every year through government contracts for asylum accommodation. But the standard of housing people seeking safety are subjected to is appalling. We need a not-for-profit asylum system that puts people and communities first.
OUR ACTIVIST PACK
Our activist pack gives you the tools to campaign boldly for refugee rights, whether you’re taking action for the first time or already a seasoned organiser. It includes guidance on writing to your MP, running letter-writing workshops, hosting panel events and transforming your community into a place of welcome, with Refugee Action on hand to support you with posters, resources and advice whenever you need it.
Publications library
Our policies, briefings and reports form the work that we do at Refugee Action to create knowledge and identify solutions to end the hostile environment. In our publications library, you’ll find research grounded in lived experience, evidence that challenges harmful systems, and practical recommendations for creating a fair, compassionate asylum process.
How we work
Our campaigning work combines mobilising the public to take action, engaging the media, lobbying Government, undertaking research, and most importantly, campaigning alongside people who are refugees or in the process of claiming asylum . These ‘experts by experience’ shape and inform all of our campaigns, holding Refugee Action to account and ensuring our work is led by those with lived experience.
